Nepal competing in 29 games in Asian Games
KATHMANDU, August 16: Nepal is competing in 29 game categories being played under the 18th edition of the Asian Games, 2018.
The 18th Asian Games is being organized in Indonesia from August 17 to September 2, said the National Sports Council at a press meet on Wednesday.
Council Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista shared that Nepal will have 185 athletes including 56 women, and 48 trainers, 24 managers, 27 officials and an interpreter totaling 285 from its side in the match.
“We’ve provided as much facilities as we are able to the players. We’ve accepted the proposal brought forth by the associations and tried our best to secure medal,” he said, adding that the players are participating in maximum games in view of the preparation for the 13th South Asian Games to be held in Nepal.
Among 29 sports Nepali is participating, 23 will be held in Jakarta and six in Palembang.
Nepal is participating in archery, athletics, basket ball (three on three), badminton, boxing, fencing, golf, judo, kabadi, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, wushu, kurans, pencak silat, wrestling, squash, cycling, football, paragliding, lawn tennis, shooting, trialathon, sepak takraw, sports climbing and skateboard.
Regarded as the Olympics of the Asia, the Asian Games is being attended by 45 countries of the continent.
The government had provided Rs 70 million for the preparations and participation in the game.
