‘Solti’ and ‘Mitini’ leave for China
KATHMANDU, Aug 18: A pair of rhinos named ‘Solti’ and ‘Mitini’ that the government has gifted to China has sent to China in a cargo plane on Friday.
Minister for Forest and Environment, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, handed over the pair of one-horned rhinos to the Chinese government through Economic and Commercial Consular of Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport. The rhinos would be kept at Shanghai Wild Animal Park, China.
After handing over the rhinos, Minister Basnet expressed belief that such move would further strengthen friendship between the two countries.
The pair of rhinos was brought to Kathmandu from Chitwan National Park on August 14, said Director General at the Department of National Parks and Wild Life, Mana Bahadur Khadka.
A three-member team comprising veterinary doctors and livestock technical persons already left for China on Thursday to take care of the rhinos. Prior to this, Nepal gifted two rhinos named ‘Rupasi’ and ‘Bhadra’ to China. RSS
