Chair contributes salary to social work

MYAGDI, August 19: Chairperson of a local government unit in Myagdi has invested his earnings as a people’s representative in social works.

Chair of Raghuganga rural municipality Bhawa Bahadur Bhandari has set up a fund to deposit his remuneration and allows, to be spent on the education of the poor, underprivileged and orphan children. The fund was established after a decision taken by the meeting of the village executive.

Accordingly, Bhandari’s earning of the past 13 months has already been deposited in the fund. “I will not be using my earnings as a people’s representative during my term, and using it to help the poor and orphan children in all the eight wards of the rural municipality,” Bhandari said.

The Gandaki provincial government has designated a monthly salary of Rs. 30,000 for the rural municipality Chair. So far, around 400,000 rupees has been deposited and the total deposit in five years is likely to be around Rs. 2.5 million. RSS
