Hindus celebrate Janai Purnima (Photo features)

KATHMANDU, August 26: Hindus throughout the country are celebrating Janai Purnima and Rakshya Bandhan on Sunday.

On the occasion, especially Hindu Brahmins and Chhetris who have undergone Bratabandha (hair saving ceremony) change the sacred thread janai (white cotton string worn across the chest) and also tie sacred thread around the wrist of the right hand.

As part of the festival, sisters tie color threads (rakhis) on the hand of their brothers and wish for their successful lives.
