PM Oli directs for implementation of BIMSTEC Declaration

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has instructed the concerned officials to implement the 18-point Kathmandu Declaration issued in the 4th BIMSTEC summit.

The fourth summit of Bay of Bengal Initiatives for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economical Cooperation (BIMSTEC) was held in Kathmandu from August 30-31.
The Declaration, expected to enhance the effectiveness of this sub-regional organization of seven member countries surrounding Bay of Bengal, incorporates issues as poverty alleviation, extension of transportation and information technology, environment, energy, technology and natural disaster management fishery and agriculture, Public Health, cultural collaboration, tourism, mountain and Blue Economy among others.

PM Oli, in the first review meeting at the Council of Ministers following the BIMSTEC summit, said that the activities of the SAARC and BIMSTEC nations would be forwarded simultaneously and actively, PM’s Press Advisor Dr Kundan Aryal quoted PM as saying.

The PM thanked the members of public, security agencies, civil employees as well as the media persons for their contributions to hold the BIMSTEC summit successfully despite the constraints of adequate bullet-proof vehicles and big venue as the International Conference Centre and bullets to hold the event, according to the Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, Binod Bahadur Kunwar.

The review meeting was attended by various Ministers, heads of the security agencies and high-ranking officials. RSS
