Asia Pacific Summit kicks off
Kathmandu, Dec 1 : The Asia Pacific Conference of the Universal Peace Federation official began here today.
Heads of State and governments from six countries and distinguished guests from other countries are taking part in the two-day conference being held at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Boudha.
“Addressing Critical Challenges of Our Time: Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity and Universal Values” is the theme of the conference that will see debates and discussion on various contemporary issues concerning the globe. It will end with a Kathmandu Declaration.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and heads of state and governments of various countries are scheduled to address the inaugural session.
Separate sessions will then follow on Climate Change, Peace Initiatives, good governance and role of MPs, role of faith-based institutions and civil society, the role of media in facing the significant challenges of the day, world peace process and peace projects, according to the organizers. The UPF has active chapters in 115 nations around the world, including Nepal. (RSS)
