Finance minister stresses on economic reforms
Kathmandu, Dec 1 : Minister for Finance Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada has said the avenues for economic development have widened with reforms in labour relations.
At a programme organized to mark the 21st establishment day of Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal (SEJON) in the capital on Saturday, Minister Khatiwada added the government was committed to bring reforms in the economic sector.
He laid emphasis on increasing exports to reduce trade deficit in the context when national economy is beign weakened due to import-export imbalance.
The Minister also shared that the government was working out to organise investment summit in upcoming April to draw foreign investment in various sectors.
Dr Khatiwada refuted media reports that the government was imposing taxes in every sector.
Also speaking on the same occasion, FNCCI chair Bhawani Rana, vice chair Kamlesh Agrawal, journalist associated with the society among other speakers stressed on harmonious relations among the concerned authorities and industrialists for speedy economic growth.
On the occasion, Minister Khatiwada released a souvenir of the society ‘Economic Policy’ and handed over SEJON award to Nagarik daily correspondent Rudra Khadka. (RSS)
