Sunkoshi-Kamala Diversion Project discussed

Kathmandu, Dec 8 : The government says it has placed the Sunkoshi-Kamala-Marin Diversion Project in top priority which would be pursued in the near future.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun and Province no 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut have held discussions on speeding up the project, Minister Pun’s secretariat has stated.

Stating that the federal government wanted to forward this project with priority as it was a project with the potentiality of making the mountainous, hilly and Tarai districts prosperous, he said the Province no 2 government has an important role to play in facilitating it.

The Irrigation Minister said that the government was working on the project with special action plan this time around although it was talked of since long.

“The Sunkoshi Kamala Diversion Project is high on the priority of the Ministry. The detailed project report would also be prepared within some time and the government would start the contract process immediately after that. The project would contribute much for the development of Province 2,” he added.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Raut had drawn Minister Pun’s attention towards employees management and the projects being undertaken by the Ministry.

The Chief Minister also shared during the meeting that Bharatoya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh of India, Yogi Adityanath, was scheduled to come to Janakpur on the occasion of the Bibaha Panchami celebration.

He stated that the Province 2 Government has made necessary preparations for the visit. He also urged Minister Pun to accord priority to the Sunkoshi-Kamala Diversion Project as districts like Saptari and Siraha among others would be benefitted from this project. RSS
