Poverty, backwardness behind Nepal’s poor int’l status: Prachanda

Chitwan, Dec 26: CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said poverty and backwardness are behind Nepal’s poor recognition in the international level.

Inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of Janaki Secondary School of Bharatpur Metropolis-27 in Chitwan on Tuesday, Chairman Dahal viewed that Nepal could not negotiate well even in ordinary agenda owing to poor recognition.

Chairman Dahal brought the reference that the construction of the Golghat Bridge was not materialized yet due to international law despite the need felt for long. Golghat is located in the buffer state of the Chitwan National Park.

“What a fate that country is put into trouble with the obstruction of the development for being poor,” Dahal wailed, asserted that if Nepal was prosperous, such construction activity would be possible.

On a different note, the Chairman however said positive atmosphere was being created for the development following the promulgation of the constitution. All sides must work in unison to ensure prosperity in the country, he urged.

He assured the people in his hometown that the construction of ring road along with the embankment along the Narayani, Rapti and Riu Rivers within four years would bring change in people’s life here. As he said, such development in four years would create favourable atmosphere for the influx of tourists from across the globe to Chitwan.

Moreover, the former Prime Minister argued that all roads in Chitwan would be blacktopped. With the establishment of industries and factories in the district, it would be an exemplary place of the country.

On the occasion various speakers including Nepali Congress Chitwan President Jit Narayan Shrestha and School Management Committee Chairman Him Kumar Shrestha spoke on various aspects of Chitwan district. (RSS)
