Chief Minister promises rehabilitation of conflict-hit people



Govt to take initiatives to illuminate all rural villages: Energy Minister Shahi

Surkhet, Dec. 28 : Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has promised rehabilitation and other livelihood measures targeting the conflict-hit people of the province.

At a province-level public hearing programme organized by the Women Rehabilitation Centre, Nepal (WOREC) in Surkhet on Thursday, Chief Minister Shahi said that those conflict survivors sustaining their lives by taking others’ helps would be rehabilitated in Surkhet itself. The province government’s attention was drawn in this regard, he added.

“The conflict-hit people are affected even at present from the incidents of the past. All their problems could not be addressed at once but the state must seek some measures to resolve their concerns,” Chief Minister Shahi added.

On the occasion, Shahi assured to establish a rehabilitation centre for the conflict-hit people, provide jobs to them based on their capacity, collect their data and provide psychosocial counseling for their better livelihood.

Also present on the occasion were Province Social Development Minister Dala Rawal; Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperative Minister Bimala KC; Director of National Humana Rights Commission Murari Kharel; Vice-Chairman of Karnali Province Planning Commission Dr Punya Regmi and Chairperson of WOREC Nepal Dr Renu Adhikari among others.
