Joshi no more in constitutional bench
Kathmandu, Jan 3 : The meeting of the Judicial Council on Thursday has relieved Justice Deepak Raj Joshi from the responsibilities at the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court as per Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana’s decision to not allocate cases to him.
Now onwards, the constitutional bench will have Chief Justice Rana, Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Meera Khadka and Hari Krishna Karki.
Similarly, the mediation council will be chaired by Justice Ishwori Khatiwada. The Judicial Council further decided to send Chief Judge at Surkhet High Court Hari Kumar Pokhrel at Janakpur High Court to curb the irregularities at the latter court.
A mechanism would be set up under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice to probe hear the complaints lodged against the Justices.
While conducting the parliamentary hearing, the lawmakers had questioned why the complaints on Justices were not heard. To this, Chief Justice Rana had made commitment that he would now pay heed to this. (RSS)
