NSU demonstrates in front of PM’s residence, 30 arrested

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: The students associated with Nepal Student Union staged demonstration in front of Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, to protest government’s recent move.

The government on Friday endorsed the National Medical Education Bill 2075 at the House of Representatives amid stiff resistance from the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC). The opposition has slammed the government’s ‘bulldozing move’ at the parliament as the ruling party’s inclination toward authoritarianism.

The NC has also protested the government’s non-decision regarding the two hospitals established in the name of late NC presidents Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala.

The NSU students reached the No 3 gate and demonstrated chanting slogans and blowing whistle to protest the government.

The police arrested 30 protesters to take the situation under control. NSU is also preparing to launch protest programs at 4 pm at Tri Chandra College.
