Nepal Army Day marked in Tundikhel (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, March 4: The Nepal Army (NA) has marked the Nepal Army Day at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on Monday.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, ministers, government high-ranking officials attended the special function organized by Nepal Army at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel.  The NA has been celebrating Maha Shivaratri as the Army Day since 1991 BS.

On the occasion the NA presented guard of honor to the president. President is the Supreme Commander of the NA.

They also performed various parades. Similarly, various groups had performed various cultural processions.

The army also performed annual free-fall jump. But the celebration soon turned tragic after Purna Bahadur Bhandari crash landed in Tundikhel while parachuting due to technical error. Bhandari was rushed to National Trauma Center.

The army also exhibited different types of vehicles and arms and ammunition it has been using on the occasion.

A large number of people had flocked around Tundikhel to watch the special program organized on the occasion.
