KATHMANDU, March 28: The new modern road broomer machines have swept over 18 tons of dust from various parts of the city on the first night, according to the officials at Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The Metropolitan, amid a drive to make the city roads dustless, started operation of five broomer machines on Wednesday. The machines were purchased from Italy.

The broomers swept Sundhara, Tundikhel, Ratna Park, Kantipath, Jamal, Exhibition Road, Putalisadak, Maitighar, Tripureshwor, Teku, Kalimati, Soalteemode on Wednesday night, according to officials at KMC.

The collected dust was dumped at the city’s waste transfer station in Teku.
