Nepal U-19 crushes Singapore U-19 by 217 runs
KATHMANDU, April 12: Nepal U-19 cricket team has thrashed Singapore U-19 by 282 runs in its opening ICC Asia U19 World Cup Qualifiers match on Friday.
Invited to bat first after Singapore won the toss, skipper Rohit Kumar Poudel hit 95 off 105 balls including seven boundaries and one six as Nepal posted a huge target of 282 runs at Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur. Rashid Khan scored 48, four fours and two sixes off 47 deliveries and Sarraf hit 47 off 53 balls which included four fours and two sixes.
Sarraf took Singapore were restricted to only 65 runs in 30 overs. Kushal Malla and Surya Tamang took two wickets each.
Nepal will face the United Arab Emirates on Saturday; Malaysia on Monday; Oman on Tuesday and Kuwait on Thursday.
Nepal along with six non-Test playing Asian countries are participating in the qualifier. Only the table topper will get a chance as the 13th nation to play in the U-19 World Cup to be held in South Africa next year.
