Govt policies and programs: ‘Nepal’s Water, People’s Investment’ to be made further effective
KATHMANDU, May 3: The government has shown commitment to make the ‘Nepal’s Water, People’s Investment’ program further effective.
During the address to the joint meeting of the federal parliaments on Friday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari presented policies and programs for fiscal year 2076/77 BS and made reiterated the commitment.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation had launched the program on April 19 this year with an objective to build 19 hydropower projects under its flagship programme to generate 3,500 megawatts of electricity in the country.
Furthermore, the government would allow shares worth Rs 102.28 billion to the public to raise funds for the construction of such hydropower projects.
Towards this, the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the Upper Trishuli B III, Rasuwagadhi and Sanjen Hydro Power Project has already been issued under this program.
Among them, the allotment of IPO of the Rasuwagadhi and Sanjen hydropower was carried out on Thursday.
President Bhandari shared that works relating to the Upper Tamakoshi hydropower project would be completed and the power generated from this national pride project would be linked to the national transmission line by next fiscal year.
So far, 98 percent of the construction works of this 456-megawatt hydropower project has completed so far.
Similarly, the Head of the State said that effective programs would be put in place to ensure all Nepali’s access to clean energy.
As per the government’s new policies and programs, charging stations would be built in various locations for electronic vehicles in a bid to promote the electric vehicle. RSS
