Govt cheating people: NC Prez Deuba
KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed his discontent over the government performance.
Taking part in the deliberation during a meeting of the House of Representatives held to discuss the government policies and programs unveiled on Friday, he said, “The government has cheated the people.”
“The government lacks an encouraging atmosphere for investment. Socio-economic reforms are still awaited. Thus the Nepali people have not had an opportunity to feel peace and happiness,” he added.
In the session, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented a proposal seeking preliminary discussion on the government policies and programs presented by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on May 3 joint session of the Federal Parliament.
According to Deuba, the new policies and programs were formulated without preparations which had the least chance to deliver the expected results.
“The one-year policy and programs include the multiyear programs and projects,” he objected.
Citing the absence of efforts to reduce the ballooning trade deficit, to achieve meaningful socio-economic development and to expedite the pace of development, he said a reliable base was yet to be created to materialize the dream of securing a double-digit economic growth.
He said that the fresh policies and programs overlook the fact that many youths had been forced to go abroad due to lack of sufficient employment opportunities at home and no attention has been laid to prevent such condition.
