‘Most wanted’ Kale shot and arrested from Tokha

KATHMANDU, May 20: Police have shot and arrested ‘the most wanted’ burglar Bishnu Tamang aka Kale from Tokha on Monday.

The police, who had reached Tokha early in the morning to arrest Tamang, had to shoot him first before making an arrest.

“The police had to open fire in self-defense after Tamang tried to attack them with a weapon, said Senior Superintendent of Police at Metropolitan Police Crime Division Sahakul Thapa.

Thapa, who hails from Melamchi, Sindhupalchowk, sustained injuries on his leg and has been undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. His condition is normal now.

The police have put Tamang on the most wanted list for his involvement in a series of theft cases in different parts of the valley. He was arrested on the charge of multiple thefts in 2009 and released in 2015.

However, he continued with criminal activities, according to the police.

Tamang was accused of robbing properties worth millions from former DIGs Jaya Bahadur Chand and Bishwaraj Singh.
