Landslide in Lokanthali puts six houses in danger

BHAKTAPUR, Sept 1: A landslide in a construction site of the drinking water project in Lokanthali of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality -1 has put six houses in danger.

The landslide had initially occurred on August 20 when a water tank was being constructed in order to address the problems of drinking water in ward No. 1, 2 and 3. To stop further landslide, they had tried some preventive measures. However, the landslide occurred again.

About 40 meters of the blacktopped road has slid down putting the houses of Laxman Prasad Poudel, Prem Bahadur Tamang, Santosh Tamang, Bharat Poudel, Krishna Bahadur Thapa, Mukunda Sapkota and Kailash Neupane in risk.

As a result, the houses have been evacuated, according to ward no. 1 chair Suraj Khadka.

The landslide has also blocked the traffic there.

A water tank with a capacity to hold 500,000 liters of water was being constructed in the steep public land at the cost of Rs. 13.2 million.
