Rapper VTEN arrested for explicit content
KATHMANDU, Oct 24: ‘Hami Yestai Tw ho Ni Bro’ rapper Samir Ghising, popularly known as VTEN, have been arrested on Thursday.
The Metropolitan Crime Division arrested Ghising from Jawalakhel today morning on the charge of using “vulgar” in his lyrics in ‘Yestai Ta Ho Ni Bro’ and promoting them on social media and as well as presenting the police administration in a derogatory manner by posting an image dressed as police officer smoking marijuana.
Released four months ago, the song has more than 19 million views on YouTube.
The police said the language used in the song is so indecent that it could not be listened to among family members.
The police are preparing to file a case of behavioral misconduct against Ghising.
A few days back Singer Durgesh Thapa was arrested and released after being warned for a similar misdemeanor.
This time it is rapper Samir Ghising aka V-ten for his rap “We are the way we are brother” ( Hami yestai ta ho ni bro),
In this song, the rapper is said to have used explicit words against the Nepal Police along with various cuss words.
The Nepal Police of Lalitpur has arrested the rapper and he is now under custody. Investigations are ongoing. The rapper earlier was saved by the police at a show in Pokhara when he was attached to stones on stage.
Although the rapper uses explicit content many of his songs do send positive messages but this has been highly controversial. The rapper has also abused Prime Minister K.P.Sharma Oli in one of his songs again using the same method of cuss words. He even hasn’t spared the Maoists.
VTEN as a rapper shot to fame with his song “garibi” (poverty). He has sung over a dozen songs and is a youtube sensation along with a large fan following on social media.
