NCP Chair Dahal backs govt’s move to change governors

BANKE, Nov 5: Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal backed the government’s recent and sudden move to change the governors of all seven provinces saying the process as not unexpected and unusual.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, upon recommendation of the government, appointed new governors day after sacking all the governors who were appointed by the previous government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba before handing over the government to Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli. The newly appointed governors were administered the oath of office and secrecy today morning.

“The change is state chiefs is a normal process and was expected as the change in the government,” said Dahal while addressing a press meet in Banke on Tuesday.

“We waited for two years to replace the governors. This should not be taken as an unusual and unexpected move. The change was already coming,” he added.

But, the Samajbadi Party not happy with the move.

Samajbadi Federal Council Chair Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has described the government’s move as unilateral and autocratic.
