India confirms first case of novel coronavirus



NEW DELHI, Jan 30: India has confirmed its first case of novel coronavirus in Kerala on Thursday.

According to Press Information Bureau of India (PIB), the student studying in Wuhan University has been tested positive in Kerala.

“The patient has been kept in isolation in the hospital. The patient is stable and is being closely monitored,” the PIB stated in a press release.

The details of the student have not been disclosed.

The death toll in China from the new coronavirus has climbed to 170, with 7,711 cases confirmed and another 81,000 people were under observation for possible infection.

Most of the deaths have been reported in epicenter of the outbreak in Hubei province.

Since its outbreak last month, the deadly virus has spread over around the globe with 15 countries reporting infections.
