COVID-19: 246 new cases registered

Kathmandu, August 2 : A total of 246 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded on Sunday, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Jageshwar Gautam said in a regular press briefing this afternoon. These cases were identified during the tests on 8,861 individuals at different laboratories across the country in the past 24 hours.With this, the number of active cases in the country reached 5,672.

According to the Ministry, 31 new cases were confirmed in Kathmandu valley including eight from Lalitpur and one from Bhaktapur districts.
Similarly, a 68-year-old woman of Parsa district died of COVID-19 infection on Saturday evening. She was a diabetes patient too.
With this, the total number of deaths caused by COVID-19 reached 57 in the country till today.

Dr Gautam further shared that 72 per cent of the total infection got recovery from the virus while mortality rate is 0.25 percent so far.
He added that 10,934 individuals are quarantined across the country.

Likewise, altogether 111 people returned home after complete recovery from the virus in the past 24 hours.
With this, the number of home returnees after recovery reached 14, 603. Spokesperson Gautam stated that there is not a single case of the corona virus in Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa, Manang and Mustang districts.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has urged one and all to adopt health precaution measures, appealing to the people aged above 60 and kids under 12 to stay inside their homes.RSS
