Indian held with banned IC notes



BHADRAPUR: Nepal Police have arrested an Indian businessman with a huge amount of Indian currency (IC) notes of 500 and 1000 rupee denomination on Saturday. It may be noted that the use and carrying of IC note of 500 and 1000 denomination are banned in Nepal.

A fish trader Anil Mahato (28) of Silgudi Champasri, West Bengal of India was found carrying such notes worth three lakhs, said Govinda Thapaliya, Deputy Superintendent Police of Jhapa.

Mahato was arrested while returning to India after exchanging the notes from a Money Changer in Birtamod.

He will be forwarded to the Department of Revenue Investigation in Kathmandu for further investigation, DSP Thapaliya said.
