Death toll from cold reached 60 in eastern region

BIRATNAGAR: At five dozens people lost their lives due to chilling cold in the eastern part of the country in this winter season, the Eastern Regional Police Office, Biratnagar informed.

Two children, 24 men and 34 men were among the dead. Saptari suffered most with death toll 37 persons while 13 in Siraha and seven lost their lives in Jhapa.

Likewise, two died in Udayapur and one in Panchthar. This year recorded lowest temperature and excessive cold wave in the Tarai district as compared to previous years.
