Nepalis working illegally use general amnesty given by UAE

ABU DHABI: As high as 150 Nepali migrant workers working illegally in United Arab Emirates returned home, thanks to UAE government’s decision to grant general amnesty to the illegal workers.

First Secretary at the Nepalese Embassy in Dubai Lok Bahadur Chhetri said that so far 120 Nepali workers have received ‘out pass’. The UAE government had given time to the illegally working foreigners to depart to their home countries till February 3. But, the workers themselves should arrange their air tickets to their home town. As per the UAE rule, the workers can again go to UAE for job once returning to the motherland. Some 300,000 Nepalis are working in UAE, marking 15 percent illegal of the total Nepali workers.
