Nepalis in Japan establish Everest International School Japan

KATHMANDU: A Nepali medium school has been established for the first time in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, targeting the children of Nepali citizens living in the country.

The ‘Everest International School Japan’ has been established as local schools in Japan have been proved unsuitable and expensive for Nepali children in Japan, said Chairperson of Nepal Education Centre in Tokyo, Dr Bhupal Man Shrestha.

Chairman Shrestha said the school would run classes based on the curriculum of Nepal in Nepali, English and Japanese medium.

The school has already announced admission from Nursery to Grade 3 and classes are to begin from coming April 8, he said.

Currently, 20,383 Nepalis are living in Nepal for foreign employment, education and business purpose. The number was just 399 in 1990, according to information shared at the program. Accordingly, there are around 1,000 Nepali children in Japan.

School and college teachers in Nepal have been hired to be part of the teaching faculty in the school.
