EU, USA and India interfering in government

CPN Maoist C P Gajurel

NUWAKOT: CPN-Maoist vice-chairman CP Gajurel has said that the proposal of forming a government under the leadership of an independent person is a ploy hatched by the foreign countries.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, he alleged that the European Union, the U.S. and India were interfering in matters of governance in the country.

Gajurel, who was also the chief of the UCPN (Maoist) Foreign Affairs Department before the party split, said that the opposition parties buying into the proposal brought by the UCPN (Maoist) from its recent General Convention is making this foreign plan successful.

He stated that making the Chief Justice, a bureaucrat, the prime minister of the country would further prolong the political deadlock.

The CPN-Maoist vice-chairman disclosed that his party was working to forge a broader unity among all the left forces in the country for a way out.

He expressed doubt over the election to a new Constituent Assembly taking place any time soon as at 120 days are required for making preparations for the same.

Gajurel said that his party would not be taking part in the election, if ever it takes place.
