Nepal government distributes Identity Cards to over 89 K squatterers
KATHMANDU: The government has distributed identity cards to 89,213 landless squatters across the country. According to the Landless Squatters’ Problem Resolution Commission, the Commission distributed as many as 89,213 identity cards to the landless squatters by the mid April.
The government had formed the 14-member Commission on December 5, 2012 with a view to resolving the problems regarding the landless squatters.
Out of the 395,456 applications, 151,633 were justified to be the landless squatters.
The commission has distributed the identity cards in 25 districts, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Bardiya, Banke, Surkhet, Dang, Kapilbastu, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kaski, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Sindhuli, Rautahat, Udayapur, Dhanusha, and Parsha, among others.
Among them, the commission distributed the highest identity cards to 25,500 landless squatters in Rautahat while the lowest to 1,077 landless squatters in Sindhuli district.
