As demanded, Regmi government dissolves squatters’s commission
KATHMANDU: The Khilaraj Regmi government on Thursday dissolved the Landless Squatters’ Problem Resolution Commission formed by the erstwhile Baburam Bhattarai government to identify genuine landless squatters.
A cabinet meeting took the decision giving into the demands made by Nepali Congress and CPN UML as part of their initiative to curb what they have termed politically-motivated decisions of the Bhattarai government.
Along with that the cabinet also appointed former secretary Rabindra Kumar Shakya as the Vice Chairman at the National Planning Commission and also decided to provide a compensation of Rs one million to the family of former lawmaker Sadural Miya Haque who was assassinated on Tuesday.
The meeting also formed a 3-member probe committee on the coordination of former justice Tahir Ali Ansari to investigate into the murder case of Haque.
The government also assured the Muslim communities that the government is serious about the security of the Muslim communities.
Likewise, the government decided to authorize Secretary or Joint Secretary of the Finance Ministry to receive assistance of Rs. 1.58 billion to be provided by the Government of Germany to the Government of Nepal.
The cabinet has approved Chief of the Army, Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana’s a-week long China visit beginning from June 13-20 on the invitation of Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
