Nepal Press Union observes 22nd founding day



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Press Union (NPU) organized a program to mark its 22nd Establishment Day in the capital today.

Speakers at the program stressed on guaranteeing of press freedom to strengthen democracy. They also said that the NPU would not compromise with anyone against the welfare of the working journalists.

On the occasion, former Vice President of Nepal Bar Association Sher Bahadur KC said that the condition of the journalists was still pathetic and added that press freedom should be guaranteed to strengthen democracy.

Likewise, former chair of NPU Kul Chandra Wagle said that the working journalists should be provided with wages on time and stressed on their job guarantee.

Also speaking at the program, senior Vice Chairman of NPU Badri Sigdel said the condition of working journalists who contributed for democracy was still pathetic and urged the stakeholders to pay attention to that end.
