Nepal Police prepared for election security
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police is mulling to arrange necessary security provision in view of upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election scheduled for November 19.
At a news conference on Thursday, the newly appointed spokesperson of Nepal Police Additional Inspector General (AIG) Nabaraj Silwal said some 80 per cent of the entire police force would be mobilized for election security while other personnel would oversee the internal security.
Presently, Nepal Police boasts of 67,181 personnel.
AIG Silwal said required number of personnel would be recruited for election purposed and security provision would be arranged based on sensitivity of election booths considering the lessons of 2008 CA election.
Spokesperson Silwal said the Nepal Police was carrying out rescue in the flood-affected areas in the western region and locals have been informed by forming Natural Disaster Relief Committee in the eastern part as well to reduce possible damages.
