Nine from Gaindakot missing in Kedarnath during Uttarakhand flooding



KATHMANDU: Nine devotees of Gaindakot in Nawalparasi  have been still missing in Kedarnath and Badrinath in the Uttarakhand flooding.

It is said they went missing in the flood and landslides in the two pilgrimage towns in India during the third week of this month.

Locals on June 21 dispatched a team of seven people from Gaindakot VDC-1 towards India for searching for the missing, but no information regarding their whereabouts has been received till date.

Those reported missing in the Kedarnath and Badrinath floods and landslide are Kirtinath Chalise, his wife Jamuna and their son Harischandra, Hiradevi Chalise and her husband Dev Narayan Chalise, and Ram Kala Paudel of Gaindakot. They had left for India on June 2.

Similarly, others who are said to be missing are Netra Poudel, his wife Bishnukala and Ishwara Lamsal of the same area. They were in touch with their families until they had reached Jagannath, Haridwar and Kedarnath, it is learnt.
