Private companies criticized for halting water supplies in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The consumers have hit hard due to shortage of drinking water in the capital city after the private companies halted the water supplies, challenging the consumers rights.

The private companies have announced the protest programs after the government officials monitored some companies and sealed the factories citing low standards.

The private water suppliers have demanded that the companies be exempted the VAT charged in the water supplies.

However, the civil society and consumers have condemned the steps of the private companies’ move to halt the water supplies.
