Madhesi, indigenous legal fraternity comes up with 11-pt declaration
KATHMANDU: The Madhesi and Indigenous Law Professionals has come up with an 11-point declaration including reforms for meaningful federalism with identity and rights and holding Constituent Assembly (CA) elections for new constitution on the stated date.
The group carrying such ideology has been contesting the election to Nepal Bar Association (NBA) since last year to join the Democratic and Progressive alliances.
With a view to making this group active and expanding its base across the country, the Association organized a two-day workshop in Kathmandu beginning on Saturday.
Various demands put forth by the declaration include immediately scrapping of cut-off in number of proportional members in the CA to ensure meaningful representation of such groups and federating the provinces as per the recommendation provided either by the CA Committee on State Restructuring and State Power Distribution or State Restructuring Recommendation High Level Commission.
