NC enforces Chitwan banda
CHITWAN: Demanding release of its arrested cadres, the Nepali Congress has enforced a districtwise general shutdown in Chitwan, affected the normal life in the district.
Vehicles have stayed off the roads and the market and factories, and schools and colleges are closed due to the banda. Today’s banda is called after the administration did not release party cadres though it was given ultimatum until 5:00 pm yesterday to release them, said Jit Narayan Shrestha, Nepali Congress District Secretary.
Pramish Rai and Yam Bahadur Karki were arrested on the charge of assaulting a Nepali driver who was driving a vehicle bearing the Indian number plate in Bharatpur, Chitwan.
They were arrested three days back. Realizing the Islam festival Id, vehicle carrying Muslims people are not obstructed, said the party.
