Police detains 6 for possessing illegal arms

LAHAN: Police have arrested six people with illegal arms at Ayodhyanagar-9, Gagankhola in the district on Saturday night. Those arrested are Mahesh Yadav (26) of Bastipur VDC-1, Rabindra Mandal (21) of Bhawanipur VDC- 6 and Dipendra Mahato (22) of Dhangadhi VDC-1.

Three of the arrestees are yet to be made public as investigation into their case is underway.

They were held with one home-made pistol, one automatic rifle and magazine loaded with eight rounds of bullet, said Inspector at the District Police Office, Siraha, Gyan Kumar Mahato.

It is learnt that Mahato was released on last August 1 after serving three years of jail term under the Arms and Ammunition (Prevention and Control) Act while other were allegedly involved in different robbery cases.

The locals caught three of them at around 11:00 last night in suspicion that they were wandering in the village with bad intention while rest three of them were nabbed by police while they were on the run.
