KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Surya Bahadur Thapa on Monday said that the government and the High Level Political Committee should make meaningful efforts to bring the CPN-Maoist into the election process.

Speaking at a press conference organised at his residence, he said that Constituent Assembly (CA) polls without the ex-rebels would not give a good message.

On the occasion, Thapa also urged the CPN-Maoist to participate in the CA election giving up all partisan interests.

“The CA election that is held without the participation of all political parties could not give outlet from the current political transition to the nation and question over the legacy to such election would be possibly raised.” he said.

Thapa, who is also the former prime minister, claimed that the efforts made to bring the CPN-Maoist and other poll opposing political parties into election process were not moved in positive and creative manner.

Responding a query put forth by the journalist about his candidacy in this CA election Thapa said he would give his candidacies in this election due to age and to give opportunity to the youth generation in his party.

Thapa said the RPP has already started the election campaign while stressing the need of holding the CA election in the slated time on the occasion.
