HIV patient denied surgery at govt hospital

RAJBIRAJ: A doctor in Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital denied operating a woman suffering from delivery pains for 30 hours, who was infected with HIV/AIDS.

Gynecologist Dilip Sah denied operation to the woman although she admitted at 10:00 am Tuesday.

She was to be operated after there was no normal delivery.

He also denied recommendation for referring her to other hospitals.

She was then taken to BPKIHS, Dharan by relatives on Wednesday evening, and gave birth to a baby girl after operation on Thursday.

Her husband who returned from Saudi Arabia wondered, “If the doctors themselves fear of it who will treat it?”

Doctor Sah, however, said there were no enough infrastructure and equipment in the Zonal Hospital to operate her in the hospital.
