MJF-D candidate attacked at night, robbed

GOLBAZAR: Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic (MJF-D) candidate for Siraha Constituency No. 4 Shatrudhan Prasad Singh was attacked on Wednesday night.

He and the Forum cadres were attacked when they had reached the house of Constituency No. 5 candidate Javed Khan’s house at Balakawa to mark the Bakra Eid festival.

His vehicle Ba 8 Cha 1792 and that of cadres’ Ba 3 Cha 8837 were vandalised, said the District Police Office Siraha.

The attackers looted Rs. 100,000 in cash, pamphlets, and party flags from the vehicle of Singh, who is also a former state minister. Javed’s house was also vandalised.

Although he survived, hiding in the house, he said, “They tried to kill me by breaking doors and windows.”

Security forces did not give attention even he informed them earlier. Police said they could not give security in night time.

Chandradev Yadav who had joined the Forum from Nepali Congress was also attacked. He blamed that Nepali Congress workers attacked him after he left the party.

CDO Anil Kumar Thakur said the security forces were mobilised as soon as they knew about it but it was difficult as it was night time.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
