Another election candidate assaulted in Siraha

SIRAHA: In less than two days since Siraha-4 candidate of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal-Democratic Shatrughan Singh was attacked, another candidate has been attacked in Siraha district.

Asha Pal, candidate from Sanghiya Sadbhawana Party led by Anil Jha was attacked at Medanipur Bridge along East-West Highway while returning to Lahan from election programme in Pipra Pradha VDC, said Area Police Office, Dhangadhi.

Three youths each in two motorcycles attacked Pal and tore down her clothes.

The attackers on motorcycle pulled my hair from behind at Medanipur bridge while I was returning with my husband, and began to tear clothes, and they fled when I shouted, she said.

She asked for security by telephoning Area Police Office Sukhipur and a team had reached the site.

Other parties attacked me as my position in the constituency was stronger despite our small party, she said.

Pal accused local administration of discriminating on small parties and demanded security. Area Police Office Dhangadhi said investigation is on as it was not revealed who was behind the attack.
