KATHMANDU: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has urged the Non-Resident Nepalese residing across the world not to forget their responsibilities towards their native land.
Opening the sixth world conference of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) at a programme here today, the President urged the NRNs to mobilise their economic, commercial and intellectual capital for the development of the country.

Stating that the progress and prosperity of Nepal and Nepalis should be the main mantra of the NRNs, President recalled the failure of first Constituent Assembly (CA) to come up with a result as a sad fact. He, however, maintained that the government and political leadership was up for making corrections of the past mistakes through the fresh CA elections slated for November 19 this year. President Yadav also appealed for support and cooperation from the NRN community to make the upcoming polls successful.
On the occasion, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Suraj Vaidya was given a letter of appreciation in recognition of his contribution to the NRNA campaign.
Addressing the function, Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire, who also heads the Foreign Ministry, said the government is serious about rightly utilising skills, knowledge, experiences and capital of NRNs within Nepal.
“The government is committed towards recognizing the NRN campaign, guaranteeing facilities and services to them ensuring their easy movement to Nepal,” he said. “An advisory board has been constituted with the participation of NRNs to give feedbacks to the government for promoting NRNs to invest in Nepal by maintaining smooth relationship between them and government.”
On the occasion, Minister Ghimire presented the association registration certificate to NRNA founding president Upendra Mahato, former President Jeeba Lamichhane and newly elected President Shesh Ghale.
Speaking on the occasion, FNCCI President Vaidya called for investment by NRN community in hydro power, tourism and infrastructure development.
