Local election immediately after CA polls, says Koirala
Kathmandu: Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala has said that the election of the local bodies will be held immediately after the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.
Stating that the development works have been badly affected due to the absence of elected representatives at VDC and municipalities for a long period of time, he said the polls of the local bodies will be held soon after the CA polls. Koirala, who returned to Kathmandu yesterday after holding party’s campaigns including a door-to-door programmes in various districts for the CA polls, was speaking at a programme today in his own residence Maharajgunj to welcome former NRNA vice-president Rameshwar Shah to his party.
He also said that there were no doubts of Constituent Assembly polls being held on the scheduled date of November 19. “The election fever has gripped the nation as people has rose in favour of the polls,” said Koirala, adding that those for poll boycott will be boycotted themselves by the people.
“None of incidents could stop the November 19 polls as the people, parties, government and the EC are in favour of the polls on the scheduled date,” said Koirala.
Citing Mohan Baidya’s commitment with the international community for peaceful poll boycott, Koirala also expressed his confidence that the Baidya-led CPN-Maoist would not hold its activities in a way that invite confrontation during the polls.
