International Labour Day being observed

Kathmandu, May 01. Many trade unions affiliated to the political parties and other organisations of labourers are celebrating the International Workers’ Day on Today.

The political parties are celebrating the May 1st Day by organizing the various cultural program at the capital on Thursday. The first day of May is celebrated as the International Workers’ Day throughout the world.

It has said that Labourers celebrate the day in commemoration of the Haymarket affair of Chicago in 1886, in which
the workers had protested for an eight-hour workday. Police had killed several workers during the protest.
The Government has announced a public holiday today for the celebration.
