June 1 FSU poll cancelled
Kathmandu, May 24. Tribhuvan University today decided to cancel the Free Students Union election scheduled for June 1.
The decision to defer the poll date follows protests from an alliance of 19 student unions who were saying TU earlier decided to set the poll date for June 1 without securing their consensus. TU earlier had decided to postpone the poll by four days — from May 28 to June 1.
A meeting between various student unions and TU today reached an agreement to cancel the June 1 FSU poll. The agitating student unions also have decided to withdraw all their protest programmes.
A new date will be announced soon after forging consensus among all student unions.
