PM Koirala will meet his counterpart on today



Kathmandu, May 27. Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who is on a three-day visit to India, is scheduled to meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by the office of the prime minister, PM Koirala will meet his Indian counterpart at 11:45 am at the Deccan Suite of the Hyderabad House.

According to the source, the duo are likely to discuss a new course of bilateral relations between the two friendly neighbours – Nepal and India – under the newly elected government  of Bharatiya Janata Party .

Koirala’s meeting with President Mukherjee, similarly, is scheduled for 5 pm this evening.

Likewise, PM Koirala will also meet Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaj Sharif, Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapakshe and Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai, today itself.

PM is also likely to meet the Chairpersons of Indian National Congress Soniya Gandhi and BJP’s Rajnath Singh. However, the time has not been finalised yet, Koirala’s foreign affairs advisor Dinesh Bhattarai said in his statement.

Meanwhile, PM Koirala will attend a dinner reception being hosted today evening by the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi. Koirala is scheduled to return home on Wednesday afternoon. He had left for New Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi.

PM Koirala congratulates Modi officially

PM Koirala officially congratulated Modi in persons after the latter’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday evening. In a written congratulatory note to Modi, PM Koirala had expressed hope for strengthened bilateral relations between India and Nepal.
