Kathmandu, August 08. Prime Minister Sushil Koraiala, who is also the Chancellor of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), on Friday appointed Dr. Ganesh Gurung as the Vice-Chancellor of the institute.
A three-member committee under the coordination of Health Minister Khag Raj Adhikari had recommended the name of Gurung today. Koirala later endorsed the recommendation and appointed Gurung as the Vice-Chancellor of the NAMS. The post of Vice-Chancellor in the institute was vacant for the past four months.
Resident doctors in the hospital had been staging demonstration for the past few weeks demanding immediate appointment of Vice-Chancellor in the institute.
The appointment of Vice-Chancellor was among one of the demands of the agitating resident doctors.
