UML Leader Nepal urges to opposition parties to come for consensus

RUPANDEHI, FEB 11, Senior leader of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged the 30-party alliance led by the UCPN-Maoist party to leave the path of agitation and violence and come forward for a dialogue.

Stating that it was due to the UCPN (Maoist) that the new constitution could not be promulgated on time, leader Nepal said however only a constitution promulgated with the collective efforts of all would become sustainable. He said, “I appeal to the alliance to take the path to a consensus, This is not a time for protesting outside.”

Speaking at a press meet organized by Press Chautari Nepal Rupandehi chapter here this morning, leader Nepal said twelve months were lost in the name of a consensus, and argued that though NC and UML were positive about drafting the new constitution the UCPN-Maoist and other agitating parties did not exhibit a liberal attitude for the same. Setting aside the politics of uncertainty and moving ahead on the basis of dialogue and talks is the need of the day.

Nepal further stressed that they are ready for a consensus but when are the opposition parties coming forward for it while referring to the UCPN-M and the Madhes-centric parties, he questioned.  He also urged the Baidya-led Maoist party to join the mainstream politics.
