NC, UML are trying to revive 2047 BS constitution: Bhattarai

NAWALPARASI), Feb 19. UCPN (Maoist) senior leader and former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were trying to impose the constitution of 2047 BS from the new way.

Talking to journalists here in the district on Thursday, leader Bhattarai said that the new constitution should be issued on the consensus basis and they would organise different protest programmes from February 28 pressing for the same.

He added that they would call the people for protest to exert pressure to the ruling parties for consensus based constitution and if it fails they would go for a strong protest from Mid-March. Leader Bhattarai said that his party led 30-party alliance was compelled to go for protest as the ruling parties were backtracking forgetting the essence of past agreements and various peoples’ movements.

Also the former Prime Minister, Bhattarai added that the new constitution should ensure the rights of Madhesis, dalits, women, marginal groups and other minorities and they were exerting pressure for the same. – RSS
