Chitwan hotels remain shut for second day
CHITWAN, FEB 24 – Hotels, lodges and restaurants in Chitwan district has remained shut on the second consecutive day to protest the police action against hoteliers.
More than 800 hotels, lodges and restaurants have remained shut on Monday after hospitality entrepreneurs called for an indefinite strike after police raided more than 100 hotels in Narayangadh and Bharatpur, taking 49 persons in custody. Police has charged the arrestees of promoting flesh trade.
Hoteliers, however, claim that police arrested even husband and wife on charge of being involved in flesh trade. Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, Chitwan, said the strike would continue until the local administration ensures that they would be allowed to do their businesses without hassles.
